Abstract
The dewatering characteristics of sludge is a seldom studied problem of waste treatment plant design. This investigation lists some of the parameters involved in the drying process and provides information for their evaluation. The importance of sand drains in drying sludge is shown. The addition of polymers to the digested sludge is clearly demonstrated to improve the drainage characteristics of the sludge.
