Abstract
The technical and economic feasibility of adapting large-scale pumped storage plants to low-flow augmentation and multipurpose water resources development has been investigated. The studies were carried out in the Great Miami River Basin in Ohio. Results of these investigations show that a multipurpose pumped storage plant is technologically feasible and economical. Besides providing water for drought control and power for peak power requirements, such a pumped storage plant can serve for additional flood protection, water supply and recreational uses.
