Vibrations of Inclined Slack Cables
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 108, Issue 7
Abstract
Three previously reported experiments on vibrations of inclined slack cables are examined. It is stated that a linear theory is a valuable tool in the analysis of marine cable vibrations for cables with supports at the same elevation. A method to extend the theory to cables with inclined chords is to view the cable in a coordinate system inclined with the chord. A modified linear analysis for inclined slack cables is suggested.
