Abstract
This paper presents a method of proportioning cantilever walls so that the solution not only satisfies the strength and serviceability requirements, but also the requirement for a minimum cost wall. The method includes computer-generated data for use in compiling a design aid. With this design aid, simple rule-of-thumb type design guides can provide walls that are within 5%of the absolute minimum cost.
