A Nonlinear Analysis of Extensible Tie-Rods
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 105, Issue 11
Abstract
The problem of a bar attached at its ends to unyielding supports and subjected to transverse loads, the so-called tie-rod problem, is characterized by interactions between the unknown axial forces induced and the internal bending couples. We have not been able to find in the literature a correct solution to this problem that takes into account the large rotations that might occur and shows on what extensibility factors the response of the bar depends.
