Abstract

The behavior of bolted connections without washers in thin light-gage steel sheets is investigated by testing. Influence of pertinent parameters such as bolt diameter, edge distance, and so on, on the strength of the bolted connections are explored. Thickness of the steel sheets tested are 22, 24, and 26 gages. Empirical formulas are presented and compared against similar connections for thicker sheets.
