Abstract
Pairs of orthogonal connected beams (beam-crosses) supported at their outer ends are analyzed for flexural-torsional instability. Loads consist of combinations of uniform transverse distributions, end thrust and a concentrated central force. Warping stiffness is included. Interaction curves are developed for various loading combinations as functions of span ratios, warping stiffnes and end support conditions. These results are obtained numerically using the finite integral method. The general characteristics of this method relevant to such lateral buckling problems are presented and considered in detail.
