Plastic Analysis of Orthotropic Skew Metallic Decks
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 103, Issue 3
Abstract
A solution is developed to predict the structural response of orthotropic skew metallic decks undergoing large deflections into the elastoplastic range leading to their ultimate load-carrying capacity. The iterative solution is based on finite difference approximation of the two coupled fourth-order differential equations of equilibrium and compatibility; the method accounts for the reduction of stiffness after initiation of first yield. Influence of skew is examined. The solution is verified and substantiated by tests on model structures.
