Abstract
A new form of free-standing stair (herein referred to as three-flight stair) is analyzed by three methods, the first two of which idealize the structure into linear bars and the third takes into account the effect of space interaction of plates. The theoretical results obtained in these methods were compared with experiments on two model staircases and it is found that the plate interaction method compares favorably with the experimental results.
