Experiments on Laterally Loaded Steel Beam-Columns
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 99, Issue 7
Abstract
This investigation was undertaken primarily to investigate experimentally the behavior of large scale beam columns subjected to concentrated lateral loads. The results of tests on nine laterally loaded beam columns of CSA G40.12 steel are reported herein. The restraint conditions, loading schemes, and slenderness ratios of the members were varied to include a wide range of structural arrangements. All tests were continued until substantial unloading had occurred due to instability. The experimental results are compared with a second-order elastic-plastic analysis.
