Abstract
The solution of two coupled partial differential equations, representing the behavior of an orthotropic or isotropic curved plate, is obtained by applying the finite difference technique. Various angular boundary conditions are considered (fixed, free, elastic) with the radial edges being simply supported. Experimental tests were conducted on stiffened and unstiffened plates. The resulting experimental plate deflections and strains are compared to the anlytical data, giving excellent correlation.
