Fatigue Characteristics of Selected Plastics

Abstract
It is the intent of the ASCE Task Committee on Properties of Selected Structural Plastics and Systems to issue, from time to time, progress reports containing topics of general interest in the area of plastics to structural engineers. The progress and state of the art in fatigue for selected plastics having potential structural application is demonstrated through specific examples. The factors influencing fatigue phenomena are discussed along with various tests methods. The data presented reflects the problems associated with the topic and can be considered only qualitative. In general environmental conditions are much more important in structural plastics than metals.
