Earthquake Response of a Ramberg-Osgood Structure
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 94, Issue 10
Abstract
Response of a single-degree-of-freedom Ramberg-Osgood type structure subjected to strong-motion earthquakes as well as to steady-state oscillations is studied. The Ramberg-Osgood system is a realistic nonlinear nondeteriorating, hysteretic force deflection relation. Effects of different earthquakes, and degree of plasticity on the response for various ductility and energy ratios are two of the parameters considered. The principles and construction of the response spectra are examined in detail and a family of spectral curves presented. Elastic and elastoplastie results are compared.
