Discrete Analysis of Latticed Columns
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 94, Issue 1
Abstract
The effectiveness of discrete field technique as applied to resolving elastic stability problems is illustrated by using the technique to determine the theoretical load capacities of braced columns. As a result, the unrestricted expressions of the critical load capacities of such built up columns with various end conditions are given, which are found to be computationally superior to available approximate solutions. The solutions developed are general in that they can be applied to investigate the load capacities of similar multiredundant structural frames free of geometrical restrictions pertaining to the ratio of height to width.
