Abstract
The principles of optimum limit design are applied to 4-span continuous beams acted on by a pair of moving concentrated loads. Moment and shear redistribution in reinforced concrete continuous crane girders are studied. Plastic moment and shear values are derived and design coefficients are tabulated for practical use. Results are illustrated for three ratios of crane wheel distance to girder span.
