Abstract
The use of the lattice analogy to analyze shear walls that do not have columns at their ends as two-dimensional elastic bodies is described. The stiffening effect of floors at the top and the bottom of the wall is considered. The interaction of a wall and its supporting beam is found by trial and error. The results of a typical analysis show considerable redistribution of stress because of the interaction of the wall and the beam.
