Abstract
Some improvements on the eigen-matrix method proposed are presented. Given are (1) the general form of solution for any form of load distributed over the entire span, (2) the generalized continuity matrix, which holds at the junction point of two kinds of distributed loads, and (3) the shift operators at any supporting point for any distributions of loads, which are valid for rigid and elastic supports, in virtue of which continuous beams can readily be treated. Although attention is restricted herein almost to the ordinary beams, similar treatment can be extended to more complicated beams or plates. Typical applications are presented.
