Abstract
Two nomographic charts were presented for obtaining the response of a single-degree-of-freedom linear system subjected to an initial-peak, triangular force-pulse. The instantaneous amplification factors, the maximum response, and the time that the maximum response occurs can be obtained directly. The charts also can be used conveniently for analyzing a multi-degree-of-freedom system by model analysis. Two examples were illustrated: A circular ring was considered as a single-degree-of-freedom system, and a cantilever beam was treated as a multi-degree-of-freedom system.
