Beam Column Experiments

Abstract
Tests on thirty-seven, full-scale, wide-flange, beam-columns are described and the results are evaluated. Bending was about the strong axis for all but one of the tests, with the slenderness ratio varying from 20 to 112. Axial load and end moment were applied independently of each other, and the moments were applied to produce to types of loading. Twenty-seven of the tests were laterally unbraced, and ten were tested with lateral bracing. Failure of the members resulted from yielding, lateral-buckling, or local buckling. Comparison of the ultimate test loads with theoretical values obtained from numerical integration and with values obtained from an emperical interaction equation showed good correlation.
