Reliability Framework for Structural Design

Abstract
Reliability goals are allocated to the structural elements considering statistical dependency between the element failure modes. It is shown that the reliability of an element over an individual life history is the minimum value attained over the history. Having the reliability goals, the design is then considered on a statistical basis using the concept of confidence.
