Engineering Approach to Information Processing
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 89, Issue 4
Abstract
Because engineering is the communication link between the physical sciences and society, the engineer must conduct his processing of information within a hierarchy of intellectual levels. The availability of means of rapid processing of information has allowed for the rapid rise in scientific discovery in the twentieth century. The role of the computer in the engineer's operating as a retriever and user of information is examined. The engineering profession must do much more to meet the challenges that lie ahead in the information revolution.
