Matrix Derivation of the Folded Plate Equations
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 89, Issue 3
Abstract
The method of analysis adopted differs from methods already published by its use of generalized forces and displacements as a means of describing the distortion (that is, the flexibility) of a plate element. A simple matrix algebra routine is developed that may be used to calculate joint displacements and longitudinal plate stresses. This matrix algebra is similar to that published by Argyris and others on the analysis of framed structures. The theory is illustrated by a numerical example.
