Spring Soil Temperatures Related to Drainage Problems

Abstract
On many western irrigation projects it has been necessary to establish a major drainage system a few years after the project has been in operation. Drainage problems may persist, however, after the system is established. On some of these projects, alfalfa has been grown extensively as a base crop.
