Abstract
The entire Kaweah River Service Area comprises foothill and valley floor lands in Tulare and Kings Counties in the San Joaquin Valley of California (see Fig. 1). One of the richest agricultural areas in the United States, it supports a diversity of agricultural products, including cattle and calves, dairy products, citrus, grapes, other fruits, nuts, cotton, barley, and alfalfa. In terms of total agricultural production, Tulare County is ranked second among the 3,134 counties or county equivalents in the United States. Kings County is among the top twenty despite its small size. The neighboring counties of Fresno and Kern are nationally ranked first and third respectively.
