Abstract
Results of tests on salt tolerance of plants under various conditions; soil solutions are often 4 to 10 times more concentrated than applied irrigation water; role of osmotic pressure of soil solution and specific ion effects; ability of rootstocks to restrict uptake of ions; prediction of plant response to given irrigation water; use of saline waters for irrigation.
