Site-Dependent Seismic Response Spectra for Soft Sites
This article has a reply.
VIEW THE REPLYAbstract
Different approaches are presented for developing site-dependent response spectra for soft sites where recorded historical motions are not available. Seismic response analyses were performed for a given site with an appropriate input motion to determine the site-frequency characteristics in terms of surface response spectra. These results were combined with statistically derived response spectra from historic motions recorded at sites with similar soil characteristics to determine site-dependent response spectra. In addition, site responses were computed in terms of surface response spectra for appropriately selected 12 historic earthquake motions. Response spectrum derived by statistical analysis of these results was compared with the site-dependent response spectrum. Pertinent results and conclusions from the study are presented herein along with the site-dependent spectra derived.
