Abstract

In the last few years hydroelectric power stations with tubular units have become more significant. For a prefeasibility study, the civil engineer therefore needs a quick method to determine the approximate size of the runner diameter. In this paper the data of constructed and planned bulb units are evaluated. The necessary equations are given with regard to the metric and British unit system. As a result a new design chart is introduced and the application is explained by a numerical example.
