VIEW THE REPLYAbstract
Special start-up tests verified that the features of the project will operate satisfactorily and as designed in normal operation and when subjected to any emergency or overload condition. Three series of tests were performed: the Unit Operational Tests in which the performance of each of the several types of turbines and pump-turbines were tested individually; the Multiunit Tests wherein a gradually increasing number of units were tripped off the line until ultimately the maximum Hyatt powerplant load was rejected instantaneously; and the Project Operational Tests which determined the performance of the entire power complex with the two powerplants working in tandem under full load in both the generating and pumping modes. The results of the most significant tests of each series are considered and comparisons are made with the design predictions where appropriate.
