Oroville Dam Diversion Tunnels
Abstract
The initial design approach of two 35-ft diam diversion tunnels is presented to provide a means of comparison with their prototype operation by a large magnitude storm. Diversion tunnels are unusual due to their alinement requirements which are based on their being converted to tailrace tunnels for an underground power plant. A list of the model study questions and answers have been included to show the areas of concern during design.
