Details of the design and construction of the 600,000-kw Boundary Project are described with special emphasis on the topographic and geological features of the project works area, consideration of which ultimately lead to the choice of a double curvature concrete arch dam and an underground power plant for the development of this site. The excellent balance between site investigation, design and the layout of the project features to minimize construction cost is brought out in describing the project.
