VIEW THE REPLYAbstract
A computer program is used to design structural steel components of Type 2 power plants. The floor framing geometry is specified by the user and the program designs the minimum cost set of members satisfying the 1961 AISC design specification. The program retains all floor design data and uses it to design the columns. Member loadings are evaluated by the program from the specified floor geometry. Stress, size and shape limitations may be imposed on a member by the designer. Deflections are evaluated for beams and girders. Various steel types may be used. When several are submitted, the program will select the most economical set.
