Abstract
Twenty-five generating units of 2190 Mw power project of Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant and Reservoir Pump Generating Plant are supplied by 25 steel plate penstocks and scroll cases with ID varying between 18 to 28 ft; steel plate erection, welding, and X-ray inspection are described; unconventional design and erection of 13 24-ft to 28-ft elbows; difficult welding of 1.812 in. thick steel plates.
