Separation Angle Effect on Vortex Shedding Frequency
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 108, Issue 5
Abstract
Vortex shedding frequencies were measured for a number of two-dimensional bluff bodies whose boundary layers separation angles ranged from 0°-90° to the oncoming flow. Strouhal numbers are presented as a function as Reynolds number in the range of about 350-7500. The results are summarized in a figure from which one can obtain the Strouhal number of vortex shedding for a given value of the angle of the boundary layer separation.
