Ring Loaded Laminated Cylindrical Shells

Abstract
The stress analysis of a laminated anisotropic cylindrical shell subjected to a circumferentially varying line load is considered. The solution state is obtained through a super-position of two specialized theories derived by the method of the asymptotic integration along with Reissner's variational principle for an anisotropic elastic solid. Each theory is seen to yield a fourth order differential equation in terms of the radial displacement. A proper superposition of the respective solutions allows for the satisfaction of all boundary conditions. Numerical results are presented for a glass-epoxy material system. It is also shown that the results presented here reduce to those of a previous method of analysis for an isotropic cylinder.
