Abstract
This paper presents a two-layer model to describe the velocity profiles in the far-wake region of plane turbulent wall wakes. In the outer region, the velocity profiles are described by the (simple) wake equation whereas in the inner (wall) region, the law of the wall applies. Using the similarity property of the velocity profiles, the integral momentum equation, and the experimental results generated from a wind-tunnel study, equations have been developed to predict the velocity and length scales. The wall shear stress was found to be approximately constant in a large part of the far-wake region.
