Buckling of Imperfect Rigid-Jointed Frames
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 104, Issue 3
Abstract
The buckling of multistory, multibay frames is investigated. A method of analysis is presented for estimating directly critical conditions, for both bifurcational and limit point type of instability. This method is based on a nonlinear formulation, and on the simultaneous solution of the equilibrium and buckling equations, and it is demonstrated through two simple frame problems.
