Abstract
The finite strip method is an applicaiton of a semianalytical solution using infinite series for the analysis of plates in bending. Rate of convergence of the finite strip solution with different types of applied loading is examined. An extrapolation procedure is presented which gives accurate solution using five or seven terms of the series for any type of loading on rectangular plates simply supported or continuous on two parallel sides. The accuracy is demonstrated by numerical examples.
