Statistical Theory for Viscoelastic Materials
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 98, Issue 5
Abstract
A new functional representation for nonlinear viscoelastic materials is presented. This representation was previously derived and used for the study of nonlinear electrical systems. The creep and relaxation properties of the material are measured by a series of cross-correlations of the applied stress (or strain) history and the resulting strain (or stress) history. The applied random history is white Gaussian and the properties are computed using a statistical theory.
