Triangular Framework Model for Plate Bending
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 97, Issue 1
Abstract
Spierig has presented several framework models for plate bending and stretching by developing models found by Hrennikoff. The models are valid for the value ⅓ of Poisson's ratio only. One of them is an equilateral triangular plate-bending model that consists of three bars, situated along the sides of the element. The bars have certain bending but no torsional stiffness. The note attempts to extend the model for arbitrary values of Poisson's ratio by also giving suitable torsional stiffnesses to the bars of the model.
