Buckling of Uniformly Compressed Circular Arches
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 95, Issue 4
Abstract
Buckling of uniformly compressed inextensible circular arches, with special emphasis on the effect of load behavior, is studied. The locally nonconservative character of a configuration-dependent lateral pressure is described, and conditions for the loading system to be conservative as a whole are examined. A nonconservative case is analyzed by the dynamic criterion.
