Abstract
Consistent theory of plane plastic deformation of soil is formulated by assuming soil as ideal material that has constant cohesion and frictional angle; mathematical expression referred to as compression characteristic is developed; then system of differential equations describing plasticity of material is devised; consistency of system of equations is shown by theory of characteristic lines.
