Abstract
Continued growth of intercity travel requires an integrated transportation system. A high-speed rail system between Boston and Washington, D. C., will supplement existing transport systems. The financing of such a system using federal, local government, and private funds needs serious consideration and further study. Future economic growth is dependent on solving foreseeable intercity transportation problems. The magnitude of capital expenditures requires analysis of all alternatives for optimum use of resources.
