Abstract
A theoretical and experimental investigation was attempted to determine floc strength quantitatively. Some formulas were presented to evaluate the hydrodynamical forces acting on a suspended floc particle, depending on the flow conditions and the particle Reynolds number values. The assumption of a pseudosurface tension allowed the calculation of a value for the inherent strengths of flocs.
