State of the Journal

The JEED's operation over the past five to seven years is reviewed. The EED Committee on Publications believes the Journal is of interest to a majority of environmental engineers, though the publication of a broad range of research, practice and policy oriented papers. The JEED median publication time of 10 to 11 months is among the lowest of the ASCE division journals. The Committee would like to reduce this time. The median time for the initial paper review was slightly over two months in 1978 and 1979. Over the 1974 to 1979 period research type papers decreased from 81% to 62% while practice oriented papers increased from 14% to 34%. About 55% of papers submitted from 1975 to 1979 were accepted for publication.
