Abstract
Influent variability removals in plug flow, dispersion flow, and completely mixed basins with or without decay have been examined and mathematical models developed. The spectral analysis technique and transformation have been used for treatment of harmonic and random influent variations. The theoretical gain factor functions were verified using actual field data of the equalization basin performance surveys. Practical design formulas for purely random and harmonic influent variations have been presented and experimentally verified.
