Abstract

The BUREC uses concrete in relatively large quantities, at various strengths, and for various critically important applications in carrying out its water resource responsibilities in the 17 western United States. Our efforts have centered on greater quality control of the grading, mixing, and placement of concrete. These efforts, together with those of the cement industry, have resulted in structures of all types and requirements being constructed with greater ease, reliability, safety, and efficiency than ever before. With current emphasis in all areas on the conservation of energy and resources, the Bureau is in the forefront of planning for the use of its present facilities in new ways, and the construction of new facilities to serve in the optimum utilization of the energy resources available to the Nation.
