Abstract
This paper examines the current practice, the recent developments, and the future prospects of various methods and techniques used for the quality evaluation of representative concrete and in-place concrete. Special attention is given to trends that will dominate the field in the future. Recent advances in accelerated test methods, ultrasonic testing, radioactivity methods, probe tests, pull-out tests, and rapid analysis of fresh concrete have been reviewed. The maturity concept, and its future role in the evaluation of concrete quality are mentioned. There is a great potential in the concrete industry for accelerated test methods and various nondestructive and partially destructive methods of testing in-place concrete.
