Abstract
The Task Committee on Inspection and Testing was established in the Spring of 1967 by the parent Committee on New Construction Techniques. Its assigned mission was to promote the development of criteria for upgrading personnel and practices in the inspection of construction. The initial objectives were to: (1) Establish liaison with professional and industry organizations affected; (2) identify areas of inspection requiring improvement both in personnel and procedures; and (3) develop means of elevating the status of inspectors. The committee was to concern itself with the determination of problems encountered in or resulting from the on site inspection of construction and with the preparation of recommended solutions to these problems. Contact was made and liaison established with over 50 national related organizations, including professional, government, contractor, and material organizations. A list of these organizations is given in the Appendix, included as part of the reprint of Proc. Paper 9192, available from ASCE Headquarters.
