Response of Supersonic Transports to Runway Unevenness
Publication: Journal of the Aero-Space Transport Division
Volume 92, Issue 1
Abstract
An analysis has been developed for determining the dynamic response of airplanes to runway unevenness during take-off or landing and has been programmed for numerical solution on an IBM 7090 digital computer. This analysis permits the inclusion of the landing gear non-linear characteristics and the flexural mode characteristics of the free-free airframe. To demonstrate how the analysis can be applied, the dynamic response of the Boeing 733-94 supersonic airplane and the Boeing 707 airplane on Runway 12, Langley Field, and on Runway 28R, San Francisco International Airport was determined. The numerical results are presented in graphical form and their significant characteristics are examined.
