Abstract
Currently used airfield pavement evaluation procedures are summarized and reviewed. Cited as requiring some attention from the profession are (a) the need for more uniformity in methods of presenting load rating in a manner readily usable by operating personnel; (b) the need for introducing procedures of a more basic evaluation nature as opposed to procedures which reverse design equations; (c) the need for developing non-destructive methods of locating weak areas for detailed testing; and (d) the need for developing methods of evaluating the effects of traffic frequency on pavement performance.
